Overtoun Farm Cottage is conveniently placed just
2.5 miles from Mauchline. The towns of Ayr and Kilmarnock are within
10 miles, as is Prestwick Airport. A short 40 minute drive on the
new M77 takes you to the centre of Glasgow.
Mauchline, traditionally associated with the poet Robert Burns, is home to the Burns Museum, Burns Monument and the famous Poosie Nancies' Pub, which still serves meals today, and the Loudoun Spicket, which is a free flowing water spout dating back to the time of Burns. Nowadays Mauchline is a bustling large village with numerous shops, pubs and takeaways as well as the Many Thanks gift shop which has a magnificent selection of hand madee Scottish craft items, and the Burns Crystal Factory Shop offering their world famous crystal glasses, decanters and ornaments at discounted prices. Further afield, Loudoun Castle Theme Park offers a great day out for the family and is located only 7 miles from Overtoun Farm Cottage. There are numerous soft play areas, swimming pools and other family attractions in Ayrshire. The Isles of Arran and Cumbrae are a short ferry ride
away and of course Ayrshire is the home of dozens of Golf Courses.
