Castle
At the top of the Royal Mile visit Edinburgh Castle, the most famous
of Scotland’s castles. View the Honours of Scotland exhibition,
telling the story of the Scottish Crown Jewels and the historic Stone
of Destiny on which previous Scottish Monarchs were crowned. The Castle
also houses the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O’Clock
Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.
The
Royal Botanic Gardens
The wonders of the plant kingdom can be discovered at the Royal Botanic
Garden at Inverleith Row, established in 1670, guided tours are available
here from April to September.
The Royal
Mile
The largest, longest and finest street for Buildings and Number of
Inhabitants, not only in Britain, but also in the World…. (Daniel
Defoe, 1723). Probably Edinburgh’s oldest street, The Royal
Mile connects Edinburgh Castle with the Palace of Holyrood House.
Visitors will find a lot to explore on either side of this historic
road.

Palace of Holyrood
At the other end of the Royal Mile visit the Palace of Holyrood House,
(the official residence of the Queen while in Scotland) and the new
Queens Gallery.
